THE SHOCKING GUEST FILE
We thank both Lu Pike and Colin Philpott for their contributions to the Shocks Band and wish them all the very best. |

![]() Duncan Lund |
On Saturday June 16, Duncan Lund was next in line for the Shocking Hall of Shame. He contributed some fine keyboard and some backing vocals to our gig at the Walnut Tree, Bourne End. They are still talking about it to this day, although what they are saying should remain unpublished for legal reasons. He belted out a fine version of Before You Accuse Me and "falsettoed" through To Love Somebody all without his hands coming off the ends of his wrists. It's a shame the rest of us weren't playing the same tunes but never mind! Cheers Dunc. |
Simon Turner |
On Saturday April 8th, 2006, again on August 27th, 2006 again on June 2nd, 2007 and once more on August 26th, 2007 Simon became a quadruple inductee into The Shocks Hall of Honour. He's a real glutton for punishment! Neal was away racing, (as ever) we needed a sticks man and Simon answered our call. The Webmaster declares Simon to be
too handsome to be shown in full close-up and thus be totally out of
keeping with the Shocking standards we set, however insurgents have
placed a likeness of Simon to the left. Simon
can be seen and heard formally on his own site right here: You're a Shocker, mate! |
Ben Portsmouth |
On October 20th, 2007 Ben supported the Shocks by standing in for Neal on drums. This he did with great gusto proving himself to be a great all-rounder. He also graced the evening with some Elvis songs to much appreciation. This makes him a double initiate into our Roll of Honour. On December 13th, 2006 Ben threw caution to the wind and took up his Telecaster in Ed's absence. Some men would have run away but Ben stood there and played like a professional. Ben can be seen performing with his Taking Care of Elvis Band generating a storm of interest everywhere he goes. Click here for his website, but y'all come back now, y'hear! |
![]() Derek Durrant |
On Friday October 14th, 2005 Derek became an honorary Shock by standing in for Ed on lead guitar at our Huntswood Golf Course gig. Derek surpassed our expectations despite having a very bad back at the time. He is lead guitarist in The Re-Loaded Blues Band and a regular in a delta blues band called Friends of the Blues. Go to the links page to see more. He learned all our songs and we learned just one of his. Cheers mate, you shocked the joint real good! |
![]() Bob Lang |
On Saturday September 3rd, 2005 Bob stepped in on rhythm guitar and vocals while our Dave was off washing his hair (or whatever excuse it was he made) at the Sidcup & District Bike-fest at Swanley. This well-seasoned blues man from Friends of the Blues became our shocking anchor-man and gave us a couple more songs to play into the bargain. Bob is a purrfect gentleman and contributed his fee to the Cat Lovers Animal Welfare Society charity or just "CLAWS" for short. Thanks Bob, you are truly Shocking! |
